LA Voice Singing Contest

LA Voice is a singing competition first created by World Journal Los Angeles in 2013 as a core part of World Journal Los Angeles’ Lunar New Year Festival. The annual singing contest aims to provide talents a place to perform and a channel to amplify their voices. Participation in LA Voice has by no means been limited to Mandarin speaking talents; LA Voice has attracted many young talents of diverse backgrounds in the past two years. Each year, we aim to make LA Voice bigger and better. For the fourth annual LA Voice, we are working even harder to create an unique, meaningful, and entertaining experience for each contestants. Last year, we attracted the casting producer from America’s Got Talent, an American reality television series with an average of 12 million viewers, who provided our Top 10 contestants with Front of Line passes to America’s Got Talent Los Angeles audition.

Lunar New Year Festival

The City of Monterey Park and World Journal LA, LLC collaborate again to produce the festival of the year- Chinese Lunar New Year- on Jan. 30 and 31. The event takes up 7 blocks (over one mile) in Monterey Park, features 2 performance stages, and draws over 200,000 visitors.

The Lunar Chinese New Year is traditionally celebrated for a 15-days period which generally falls in January & February on the lunar calendar. For Year of the Monkey, Chinese New Year day falls on Monday, February 8th. With family unity as the central theme, we hope to bring families together to celebrate this holiday season through good food, shopping, and entertainment.
